StartFree.com and idontpay.com offer free internet access. There is a small ad window at the bottom of your screen, you must fill out a short survey once a month, Windows 95 and up are supported, and access is available throughout the United States.

The ad banner is flexible and actually disappears when you are visiting a 'partner site'. Spinway is also available through NBCi.com You need Windows 95/98/NT, minimum 486 50mhz, 16mb RAM, 14.4 modem, and the download size is 4,034 KB.

NetZero Available throughout the US and CAN and they seem to be improving. Update! As of January 1, 2001, NetZero will only provide 40 hours of free service per month. Users will be charged for surfing time exceeding this limit. Being one of the oldest and biggest free isp's, this seems to mark the end of free internet access as we know it. Download size - 4,850 KB

Free ISP's no longer in business or no longer offering free internet access: FreeI, Rhinopoint, Auric, Web.com, FreeNSafe, Freewwweb, WorldShare, DialFree, AltaVista and WorldSpy. Free ISP's are good for backing up your regular ISP. If you choose to use them exclusively, download a few because they do go out of business often.
